and a quarter to 98

Days 85-98

One quarter down! One whole quarter of the year has gone already and I am quiet surprised. I know that would sound weird, since I have been taking a photo everyday and know exactly how far through the year we are, but still it has gone quickly. So here it is, my last two weeks have looked like this:

Day 85:

On a quick afternoon walk I spotted some Christmas 

tree decorations hanging on a street tree.

Day 86:

Enjoying a nice mug of tea. I love my Tazzie mug.

Day 87:

First boxing class after almost 2 months.

Day 88:

We went to see a French film in Fremantle. On the way back we

stopped off at the old prison and took a few photos.

Day 89:

A day out in the park with friends taking 50's style photos.

Day 90:

Easter lunch with the family. I love the look on my little nephews face.

Day  91:

Another Easter lunch. My plus ones family found a bunch of tadpoles

in the pond when they were removing it.

Day 92:

I love the architectural features on the old laundromat

I walk past to get to French class.

Day 93:

I stayed home sick but I felt well enough to take Dallas

for a gentle walk that afternoon.

Day 94:

Gorgeous sunset and another long day.

Day 95:

Another afternoon walk. This time I went

exploring down some back lanes.

Day 96:

Bath time is torture.

Day 97:

Breakfast ride to Freo with a stop under the Canning Bridge.

Day 98:

My bigger nephew is about to celebrate his 3rd birthday. I brought him a

back pack with an insulated lunchbox from Biome.

and Carriage Cafe - Fremantle

Well another weekend has gone and so has a bike ride to Fremantle for breakfast! It was a massive ride as well, a terrifying 81.5km. I have never ridden over 63km before, so this was a huge effort. Plus I don't ride the most practical bike for long distances. My ladies bike has an upright position and big lumbersome tyres, not to mention it's a very heavy bike. We set off at 7 and headed around the river and towards Fremantle.

Our breakfast stop this time was the Carriage Cafe on the Esplanade in the park. Normally we find a fancy cafe and sit down in a lovingly decorated space, but this time we went for something different. We sat out on the deck under huge trees. The cafe is right near the playground across from the Esplanade Hotel. Due to the closeness to the park the cafe was full of families and little kids. Something we didn't consider when choosing our breakfast location. The place was a little noisier then I prefer but all the kids were having fun and it wasn't to disrupting. That is, of course, what you get for choosing to dine in a public space. All in all, I didn't mind.

The eggs benedict was really delicious. It was slightly salty and very generous. There was so much ham, it was great! The banana milkshake was a standard shake with banana flavouring. My pancakes were really good as well. They were cooked perfectly and they didn't skimp on the maple syrup. The icecream was also a nice touch. I haven't had icecream on my pancakes for a while. I brought an ice tea with my breakfast to cool me down. But after sitting under the trees for a short time, while waiting my my breakfast, I got cold and went and ordered a pot of tea as well. By the time I got back to my table our meal had just arrived. It was pretty fast indeed. Not long after my tea arrived.

On the way back we stopped to take some photo's of the view.

I wanted to take a photo of a mass of birds perched on that rock

but they flew off before I could.

We stopped under the Canning Bridge to take some more photos.

For anyone wanting a great value breakfast, but who is afraid of taking their kids to a cafe, this is a perfect choice. There is a great range and the prices are very reasonable. It was great value for money. Plus when you have finished you can take your kids to the playground for a run around. The bathroom facilities are the public toilets located in the park, but I found them reasonably clean.

We are hoping to take another breakfast ride before the month is out. Next time we will be aiming for 100km. These long rides are currently serving 2 purposes. One being my 30 before 30 challenge, the other is the Spring Classics Challenge on Strava, which my plus one is aiming to complete.

Also we burn off all of the calories we consume at breakfast, as well as push our own boundaries!

and a 1950's inspired photo shoot picnic

and a 1950's inspired photo shoot picnic

Over the weekend myself and two of my friends went for a picnic in the park with a difference. We all love the 1950's style, so two of us dressed up in our favourite dresses while the other grabbed her camera, and we headed to Hyde Park in Highgate.

We had all made some picnic food and we set up for the picnic scene. None of us are professional models or photographers but we thought it would be a lot of fun and it was. It was a bit hard for our friend to direct us at the beginning and it was weird posing so much for the camera but as the day went on, we eased into it.

I started by wearing my 'I Heart You Frock' by Alannah Hill, my fascinator from Review and and my Lulu Pointelle Cardigan from Forever New.

How cute is the tea set? They are my friends.

We then changed to sparkling wine and OJ.

I then changed to less sensible shoes and removed the cardi my friend added a fascinator and heels as well.

One of my favourtite props was my parasol.

 I was given a few years back for my birthday.

Two photographers at once?

We then headed to Mueller Park in Subiaco.

Mueller Park has great paths to promenade down. I wish more people promenaded and perambulated.

This is one of my favourites.

Our final stop was Subiaco Common. Here we also did a costume change.

We have many more ideas and a lot more outfits, so we are looking forward to doing it all again in a few months. I brought a new vintage rockabilly/western dress from the 1950's which I am dying to wear. So we will have to think of a location for that. We are also interested in doing a kitchen scene but that will be harder to work out how. all in good time!
