and I have a headband

Exciting huh?

Well I think so anyway. It arrived today at work. I ordered it on Wednesday for the Melbourne Cup. I don't feel like wearing an elaborate fascinator this year. Plus my dress is floral and busy so I didn't want to be too over the top. Which I suppose is against everything that racing carnival is about.

Mine is still a little squished from the packaging at the moment. So I will be spending sometime 'poofing' it out.

I have another 5 parcels still to be delivered. Including two from Modcloth. I was hoping the one containing shoes would arrive today. Or at the absolute latest Monday, so I can possible wear them to Ascot for the races. But I will find some back-up shoes tonight and I also need some new stockings and a clutch. So off to the city for another round of shopping.

Some friends of mine are getting a puppy today. I am hoping to visit the puppy, and the owners, next weekend once he/she is settled in.

There puppy is the white and brown one.

It is called a Beaglier, which is a designer dog. A cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Beagle.

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

Today's topic in the 31 Day Fashion Blogger Challenge is about 'Something from your favourite store'. My favourite store was a toss up between Portmans and Forever New. For work clothes and some dresses I go to Portmans while for more casual clothes I go to Forever New. Although I do own some pretty nice dresses from Forever New.

I decided to go with Portmans as my favourite and this is the dress I love by them.

Portmans - Bold Stripe Dress

Like a lot of my dresses it has sleeves and also like a lot of my clothes it has stripes. The one downside to this dress was the fact that the silky tie keeps slipping and I have to keep adjusting it.

I wore the dress to my work's Christmas dinner last year from which this photo was taken. As you can see, the tie had slipped. The dress was also released with short sleeves and also in a pink. This year it was re-released with an alternating striped pattern.

I'm off to get ready for dinner now. It must seem that I go to dinner a lot. I never really used to but recently I have been out for dinner at least once a week or close to it.

Mexican tonight!

Until tomorrow.

Love, love Elle.

and here is number 14

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

'The item that was hardest to track down'. I was hoping to announce that I have found some amazing mint flats for this blog topic. But still no luck. I think I saw some in Myers but I need a free moment to go and try them on. I don't think I have spent a lot of time chasing a certain item of clothing. I think I spend more time trying to find a red coat or a spotted dress or a mint pair of shoes. I know how I want them to look in my head and I try to find something that gets as close to that as possible.

There are a few pieces of clothing that have been out of my size at one shop so I try at their nearby stores. Or at least I get the shop assistant to call ahead. I love matching clothes as well and I often by a whole outfit at once with a certain occasion in mind. I will trawl through a whole shopping center getting the correct parts to the outfit. Sometimes this takes several days and a few different shopping centers.

Portmans

This coat has an awesome story behind it. I had always wanted a bright red coat but I was always afraid that it was going to wash me out. I had had a bad day with car problems and headed to the shops for some retail therapy. I went into Portmans (which is one of my favourite stores, especially for work clothes) and I was just looking around at the coats. The sales assistant, who was a bit bored because the shop was fairly empty, found out that I only had black coats. She then trawled the shop excitedly grabbing different coats off the racks. I was also shopping for work pants, work skirts, work tops etc. so she came back with heaped piles of clothes for me to try on. I just stood their nodding my head at the clothes I liked and shaking off the ones I didn't. Then the other shop assistant joined in and they both ended up dressing me up with different scarfs and hats to go with the outfits. They defiantly earned their pay checks that day. I put most of it on lay-by for my next pay and a friend had to help me carry my bags out to the car when I went to pick them up.

Ok so the story might not actually be awesome. But to me it was. I had so much fun having two 'personal' assistants and I must have been in the store for over an hour.

It's so great when sales assistants actually put in an effort to help. It makes all the difference. You leave with an awesome stack of clothes and they have a high sales day. Win, win, win!

Anyone else had a similar experience of sales assistants going above and beyond and it just made your day?

Well it's late again. I wasn't off sick today but I still feel pretty average. So off to bed I go.

Love, love Elle.

and it's 8 days in

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

Today's blog topic is 'Something you forgot you had but love'. This is a skirt I also got from my sister. I can't remember why or when but I know I had it hidden away because it was too small for me for a while. Plus it is missing a few buttons on the back which I need to replace. It is a satin like skirt with a really high waist and a hem to the mid calf.

It was hiding away in my hanging shelves in the corner of my cupboard. Now that I fit into it, it has migrated to a hanger and hopefully I will remember to sew new buttons on it so I can wear it.

The material and the high waist are my two favourite features of this skirt. The skirt is by designer Adele Palmer.

Skirt - Adele Palmer
Top - Portmans
Necklace - Diva

I am very happy with this dress although I can't wear it to dinner if I plan on eating a large meal. It's still a smidge bit tight and acts as a corset for my belly.

Well until next time.
Love, love Elle.

and Spring has sprung

In the southern Hemisphere we have left winter and have just moved into my favorite season; Spring! Spring, where I live, is wildflower season and I hope to do some bush walking in the up coming months to make the best of it.

Suns out

One of the best things about Spring is obviously the fashion. We all start brightening up our wardrobes to make the best of the season. We also get to finally remove the jumpers and start wearing sun dresses. Although, it's going to be cold for quite a while longer. But I can't wait for the first warm day.

1. Enchanted Afternoon Dress
2. Taylor Tote
3. My Perfect Revenge Frock
4. Metallic Pop Belt Pack
5. White & Gold Time It Watch
6. Sweet Spectator Heel
7. Made Me Decoupage Sunglasses
8. Mint to Be Scarf

I think blue and green might dominate my wardrobe this spring. Although I keep looking at orange clothes as well.

We will just have to see where my shopping takes me.

Until next time.

Love, love Elle.
