and a 1950's inspired photo shoot picnic

and a 1950's inspired photo shoot picnic

Over the weekend myself and two of my friends went for a picnic in the park with a difference. We all love the 1950's style, so two of us dressed up in our favourite dresses while the other grabbed her camera, and we headed to Hyde Park in Highgate.

We had all made some picnic food and we set up for the picnic scene. None of us are professional models or photographers but we thought it would be a lot of fun and it was. It was a bit hard for our friend to direct us at the beginning and it was weird posing so much for the camera but as the day went on, we eased into it.

I started by wearing my 'I Heart You Frock' by Alannah Hill, my fascinator from Review and and my Lulu Pointelle Cardigan from Forever New.

How cute is the tea set? They are my friends.

We then changed to sparkling wine and OJ.

I then changed to less sensible shoes and removed the cardi my friend added a fascinator and heels as well.

One of my favourtite props was my parasol.
I was given a few years back for my birthday.

Two photographers at once?

We then headed to Mueller Park in Subiaco.

Mueller Park has great paths to promenade down. I wish more people promenaded and perambulated.

This is one of my favourites.

Our final stop was Subiaco Common. Here we also did a costume change.
My next outfit comprised of my Bettie Page Alika Black Circle
dress with a white crinoline and my new sunnies
from Oh Henry! vintage store.

This dress was made to twirl!

We have many more ideas and a lot more outfits, so we are looking forward to doing it all again in a few months. I brought a new vintage rockabilly/western dress from the 1950's which I am dying to wear. So we will have to think of a location for that. We are also interested in doing a kitchen scene but that will be harder to work out how. all in good time!

Until next time.

and I am off and racing

Spring Racing Carnival

Well the spring racing carnival is upon us and as a part of the social group at my work I will be off to see the Melbourne Cup at Ascott. I was hoping to wear my blue dress from Bettie Page but I have decided to send it back. The fit isn't right for me. So this means I will need to go shopping. I have my eye on one dress from Alannah Hill. It is currently on sale so I am heading into the city this afternoon for a wander around. In other, sad news, I found out that my favourite work skirt has seen it's last wear. The stretchy material fibers are starting to come though the material.

Plum or green? I will just have to see which looks nicer, or if either look nice at all. I also found a black pencil skirt from Alannah hill which might solve all of my work wear problems.

I am hoping for a very successful shopping trip. I then might have to relax with a nice dinner and think proudly of my shopping efforts.

I can only hope that it all goes to plan. Does anyone else pre-shop on the internet? I seem to do it more and more lately. I love shopping but I like to know what I am up against. I find if I wander around a shop not knowing what to look for I might get overwhelmed and leave.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! Mine hasn't been to bad, which is always great.

Love, love Elle.

and by the power of 21

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

Well I am on the home stretch now. The topic of today's post is 'Something that is your favourite brand'. My favourite designer at the moment is Alannah Hill. I don't own anywhere near as many Alannah Hill clothes as I would like. The amount of clothing I actually own by her totals one... This dress I brought for a Kitchen Tea earlier in the year is my only item of clothing, although I would love a lot more.

I Heart You Frock

It's from her 2011-2012 Spring-Summer collection.

 Kitchen Tea
Lulu Pointelle Cardigan Mint - Forever New
Are You Red-dy Lipstick - Maybelline

Wedding (different friend)
Lulu Pointelle Cardigan Cream - Forever New

My sister has also borrowed this dress for a 1950's style maternity photo shoot.

Alannah Hills has just released her new collection and this is my mini wish list!

I don't think I am in love as much with this 12-13 Spring-Summer collection as I was for the Autumn-Winter collection.

and Spring has sprung

In the southern Hemisphere we have left winter and have just moved into my favorite season; Spring! Spring, where I live, is wildflower season and I hope to do some bush walking in the up coming months to make the best of it.

Suns out

One of the best things about Spring is obviously the fashion. We all start brightening up our wardrobes to make the best of the season. We also get to finally remove the jumpers and start wearing sun dresses. Although, it's going to be cold for quite a while longer. But I can't wait for the first warm day.

1. Enchanted Afternoon Dress
2. Taylor Tote
3. My Perfect Revenge Frock
4. Metallic Pop Belt Pack
5. White & Gold Time It Watch
6. Sweet Spectator Heel
7. Made Me Decoupage Sunglasses
8. Mint to Be Scarf

I think blue and green might dominate my wardrobe this spring. Although I keep looking at orange clothes as well.

We will just have to see where my shopping takes me.

Until next time.

Love, love Elle.
