Bettie Page Dresses

My dresses arrived on Tuesday from Bettie Page. I had them delivered to my work and I went home at lunch time and couldn't resist trying them on. First the black dress with the white petticoat. It fitted great and was so fun to twirl in. I will need to wear a strapless obviously but I was just doing a quick change.

 I also tried on the blue dress but couldn't get the zip up. So I put everything back in it's box and went back to work. After work I tried the dress on with a little help with the zipper and it zipped up. Problem was I could barely breathe. After some contemplation we worked out it was because I was taller than average so the waste was sitting higher on me. This meant that the smallest part of the dress sat on my ribs and not my waste. This is something I have never thought about before. Bettie Page has a 60 day return policy so I am going to do some thinking about it to decide if I'll send it back for a bigger size or not.

I forgot to take a picture of it though. It looked really nice. I just have to be feeling bold to wear it because of the bubble-ness of the bubble skirt. Be brave Elle, be brave!

The other night I went out to dinner with friends at Santa Fe in Subiaco. I had the chicken fajitas (Carona Pollo fajita) and for sweets I had the apple Chimichanga, which was devoured before a photo was taken.
The chimichanga was amazing but unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry and the cheese was in unappetising chunks.

I enjoyed the night. I have been there twice in the past and in line with attempting to be more bold and to allow more of my personality to shine through, I wore my bright red shoes and a new Jacket I picked up from Dotti.

The next few days are going to be quite busy. I will be baking tonight for a work lunch tomorrow to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. I will also be baking cupcakes this weekend for a 60th birthday party Saturday night. So be prepared for some more food photos!

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

'An item that brings all the boys to the yard'. Errrrmmmm. Sexy clothes time? There hasn't been too much in my recent wardrobe that 'brings all the boys to the yard' and if there was it would have been completely covered in a coat.

I love this peplum shirt I brought from Dotti a few weeks back. I paired it with a thin black belt I had from another top. It accentuates the waist even more. I am also wearing black denim shorts and plain black heals.  One upside to being tall is that I have by default really long legs so shorts are a bit of a favourite of mine. I will be wearing a variation of this tonight. Instead of the shorts, I am wearing dark jeans since it's pretty cold outside. I will then cover the whole thing in a giant red coat so you can't see any of it. Unless we are inside in the warmth!

Mexican last night was great. Well my food was anyway. I am becoming a huge fan of Chicken Fajitas. I prefer them over burritos because you can choose to had a tonne of cheese and sour cream or only a smidgen. Others were less impressed with their meal but mostly because of a mistake by the waiter or the kitchen.

Off to dinner again tonight. This time a nice bar meal at The Village Bar, Subiaco for a friends birthday drinks. We are heading in early for dinner. I have been scouring the menu for a few days. I like to prepare myself for whats to come. The specials always throw me though!

THE NEW 31 DAY FASHION BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

Well it's day 10 of the blogger challenge. Today's post is about 'Cute Tights'. I left work early today and went to The Naked Fig in Swanbourne for High Tea this afternoon with a friend and some of her work colleges. The cafe is in an amazing location and the food is superb. But you constantly get the feeling of being abandoned. You need to search for waiters and then try and get their attention so you can ask for anything. We wanted to order some more tea and I asked a passing waiter if I could order some. I thought he was going to head off and get his note pad to take our order but instead he just assumed that we wanted the same as before. Luckily when I stopped another waiter to find out if they were going to take our orders we worked out what had happened and they changed the order. I have been there once before for breakfast earlier in the year and I felt the same abandonment plus your table is never ready.

But I digress. The point of the story was that I had planned to wear cute tights with the lace dress I was wearing but when I tried the dress on I felt it was too short for what I wanted and changed to pants.

So here are examples of the tights I was going to wear. I didn't know which. I was leaning towards the stripy one. They are two of my favourite tights.

Target have some really funky tights and stockings at the moment. No matter what happens in fashion I will always love tights. Not only can they add sophistication or quirkiness to an outfit, or change an outfit from something bland to funky, they can also hide a magnitude of sins. I am ridiculously clumsy. I currently have a massive bruise on my left knee and my left calf at them moment from walking into things.

That is the dress I was going to wear the tights with. But I just wasn't in the mood for a short dress. Maybe when it's a little warmer. Although today was a stunning Spring day. This dress is one of the reasons I want mint green ballet flats.
